COMMITTEES AND ADVISORY BOARDS
Since AWL's inception in 1958, we have continued to be a leader in in current practice relating to animal welfare issues. AWL is an active member of the following committees and groups.
Animal Welfare Advisory Council (AWAC)
AWAC is an advisory body to the Minister for Agriculture on all animal welfare issues as they apply to the provision of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979 (POCTAA), its regulations and various Codes of Practice.
One of the codes governed by this legislation is the Welfare of Animals in film, Television and Theatrical Performances, of which AWL is an approval authority.
