KEMPS CREEK SHELTER
Work has proceeded on the shelter at a great rate.  We can now see the finished outline of the two kennel rows.  The Surrender Facility has been painted and the vinyl flooring laid.  All built in cupboards and shelves have been completed and the facility is ready to put the holding pens for dogs and cats into place.  Landscaping is in progress in the Surrender Facility area.

The internal roads have been laid out, kerbed and the roadbase has been put into place.  The road sealing will be completed as one of the last works by the builders.  The gateway brickwork has been completed and will present an imposing entry to the shelter.

The perimeter fence has been finished to the 'rural style' as demanded by the DA consent.

Kennel Row 2 has had the walls raised and the roofing is currently being finished.  Work on the air intake ducting and the heated in floor heating is finalized.

Electrical and plumbing services are being put into place in both kennel rows and the walls for the utility areas in both kennel rows is well underway.

The materials for the kennels has started to arrive from USA and the balance is expected within the next few days.  The installers have been able to commence preparing the kennel rows for the installation of the kennels and the top quality of the kennels can be seen as the first container was unloaded.
The work on the exercise yards has commenced with the excavation of the areas in readiness for the drainage lines and the new soil.

Work on the riparian zone has been delayed until next Autumn as the current dry period and the upcoming summer would place the planting under stress.  It was determined in view of this that we will wait until cooler weather to give the plants a better chance of survival.

State 1 of the shelter will be finalized during December allowing full training of the staff to take place prior to commencing operation of the new shelter.

We would dearly move to development of Stage 2, but will need your financial support to improve the housing for ALL our animals.  Should you be able to assist, please contact Head Office on 1800 880 190.
